On a bicycle trip in northern Laos in 2013, my husband and I met Viengnakhone Lavongvilay, who at the time was the project manager in Laos for the nonprofit Room to Read program, which has opened more than 13,000 libraries and built more than 1,600 schools in Africa and Asia to promote literacy. With Lavongvilay’s assistance, ANALOGIES FOR KIDS AND TEENS was approved by his nation’s Ministry of Education and Sport, and translated, published and distributed throughout Laos.
