A larva is the immature form of an insect that undergoes some change.  An example of a larva is a caterpillar.  It builds a cocoon and eventually turns into a beautiful butterfly.  Another example of a larva is a mosquito.  A larva of a mosquito is well developed with a head that has mouth hairs that it uses for feeding.  On the other hand, an embryo is an unborn offspring of a mammal.  It is in the process of development.  An example of an embryo is an unborn child/baby.  A baby begins life as a single cell, barely visible to the naked eye.  The baby develops in the mother’s womb.
